Words in my mouth about people's IQs. Let's try this again: I said putting such a large and impactful decision in the hands of a razor-thin majority of laypeople is borderline crazy. I guarantee you most people who voted didn't come close to fully grasping the implications of their vote - probably on both sides of it. That's how it usually works. I wouldnt have either and it was hardly even a majority with 49% opposing. Why on earth would a country make a major decision that way?
The larger point wasn't even about the Brits. It was more that If you think random people off the street should be deciding our trade, regulatory, healthcare, etc. policies by vote (when 99% of voters have no expertise or even knowledge on those subjects other than what they are TOLD by watching TV) you are free to hold that opinion but there is a really reason no country on earth governs that way. It would be insane and disastrous...And I was under the impression anyone who made it past civics 101 was in agreement there. Apparently you're an outlier.
