How bad is Kansas’ job growth rate? From January 2015 to January 2016, it was a measly 0.1 percent, the seventh worst rate in the nation, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Oklahoma (minus 0.6 percent) was the only state in the region with a lower growth rate than Kansas. The job growth rates for other neighboring states: Missouri, 0.5 percent; Nebraska, 1.5 percent; and Colorado, 2.7 percent. Nationally, the job growth rate was 1.9 percent. – Phillip Brownlee
