My LOL is in regard to your view

Secession was only illegal because the South lost..... I always understood it as the issue of secession was settled BY the civil war.

It really is not that cut and dry.

At the time and even to this day secession is debatable. I do not see anywhere in the constitution that binded those states together forever nor do I believe the founders intended this to be an absolute.

I find it odd someone like you, would ignore the will of the people for self governance, and instead agree with killing those would do something so treacherous as asking to be left alone. So yes, I LOL.

If any group of people who feel it is in their best interest to self govern and to leave what they believe to be an unhappy relationship, why should anyone force them otherwise?

I guess you agree the Kurds should not have their own state, since it is illegal. And if the Sxots vote for self governance, England should bomb em. Hey Taiwan, don't you dare think about it. Sucks for you guys, you should have written the laws.....
