If we cede Ukraine to him because, hey, he can’t be stopped, our odds of war with China and Russia skyrocket. That’s pretty high odds of nukes flying. Those odds decline massively if we support Ukraine for as long as it wants to fight. Then any number of things could stop Putin, including domestic exhaustion with war (really helped bring down the Soviets), down to possibly ceding the Donbas and Crimea, Crimea only, or any number of other outcomes that would leave an invasion of nato lands far less likely. Which makes Chinese aggression also a bit less likely at least, and if we can keep them guessing for a few more years, they might miss their opportunity.

Wars with China and maybe others may not be avoidable. Observers do not think we are sufficiently prepared. Aid to Ukraine helps our readiness. We give stock to Ukraine and replenish with upgrades.

Ukraine aid is a no brainer. It would pass easily if the far right minority stopped obstructing.
