Were elected though. Would they really have less of a risk of a sharp anti-gay turn in Spain or Italy? Both of them are ripe for rwnj populist politics - especially Italy these days.

I don’t think very many of us have much of a reason to actually leave the country if Trump wins. Unfortunately, democracy is under threat just about everywhere. If you happen to live in a state more aligned with your politics, you’re probably better insulated from whatever you dislike in the populists than in Europe, which doesn’t have the same emphasis on local autonomy.
