I long ago succumbed to believing Medicaid-for-all was the only solution.
Not because it's anywhere near the best solution, but because both parties have had their shots and shown they're incapable or unwilling to solve the problems. Thus making it the only remaining viable solution.
But let's then be honest about what that means in terms of service levels, wait times, quality of equipment, innovation, etc. when we're talking about putting all the pricing power in the hands of a gov't that is now over $34T in debt and approaching making $2T deficits the norm. At some point that chit hits the fan for real, and healthcare expenditures will be a big chunk of the spending that will have to be cut.
And it should mean those realities for everyone. Not allowing some to just pay a few extra bucks to their "concierge doc" buddies for the "haves" from their place in Boca. Like with schools, if they want to go outside the gov't system, let them pay the full "fair share" for that service.
