I'm not sure what the precise context is, but there has to be some sort of line regarding this, and the question should be where that line is located.
After 9/11, most conservatives agreed that free speech should be censored to hamstring terrorism, for example. The pendulum swings depending on the zeitgeist. For now, let's reflect on this "horrifying" SCOTUS viewpoint from 1998:
“It is the very business of government to favor and disfavor points of view on innumerable subjects, which is the main reason we have decided to elect those who run the government rather than save money on making their posts hereditary."
