Political stunt, but I'm not sure why we care so much?

If y'all didn't go nuts and Fox didn't cover it, he wouldn't do it. But why do we care so much about this? They get a 2027 court date when they turn themselves in. Why do we care if they stay in Texas or go someplace else? Really really, they probably shouldn't be getting 2027 court date and disappearing anywhere into our country. Do we even know what these people are fleeing? What do we document on with their asylum request?

Not that I don't think Abbott is an opportunistic asshole, but let's think about what's really going on here. Better to have real immigration reform. Probably better to invest the resources where these people are coming from (so they don't come) and focus on getting the (many) immigrants we need in this country (which we're not getting at this point - they're going to Canada).

Or maybe I'm way off base - educate me!
