That’s the problem - pretty much everyone wants to try to boil this down to simple 2 dimensional terms. Even in the body of that NYT piece, they have a line saying “more have died in Gaza since Oct 8 than died in Israel on Oct 7”, as though there’s some scorecard determining a “winner” that way.

Hamas is the one clear indisputable bad guy in this, start to finish, committing war crimes every minute of every day, and pro-Palestinian protestors can’t seem to bring themselves to protest against Hamas. Because too many of them see all Palestinians as one entity - no distinction between a terrorist who slaughtered civilians and a 10 yr old caught in the crossfire.

But then your rwnj parody here is no better - also not seeing that distinction. There are lots of people caught up in this who are not bad guys. Not too many Israelis see their own leadership as “good guys”. Part of the problem is how people need to see everything in black and white terms, and this situation is anything but.

Israel is in a bit if a damned if you do, damned if you don’t moment. I bet even bibi doesn’t really know if the war will resume this week at this point.
