So Israel employs scorched-earth tactics as a deterrent?


I'd say Oct. 7 demonstrates pretty clearly that it hasn't served as one. Just another episode in the generations-long cycle of attack/counterattack.

Peace has to start somewhere. The death spiral has to be interrupted at some point. Otherwise we just go around and around and around.

Maybe we need to look at the problem differently - maybe we're trying to solve the wrong problem. Maybe it's unrealistic to expect a country of 7 million people to safely manage an internal refugee population of 2.5 million people.
