As I've said before, I think Israel has no other option except to
go into Gaza and take out as much of Hamas leadership as it can. After what they did, you can't let that leadership remain to just do it again. It's also pretty apparent that if things stay the same, this will all happen again in twenty to thirty years, if not sooner.
That being said, regarding the paragraph about the Palestinians, I do think that most of the Arab/Persian world governments just use them as pawns. The people may care, but the governments don't. Regarding who are the peace loving ones? It would be virtually impossible to grow up in Gaza or the West Bank and not be radicalized, IMO. As I've stated before, there are many people on this site, many strong Israeli supporters, who would without question be radicalized over those conditions.
The only way out of this cycle is concurrent strong Israeli and US leadership that works together to reverse the settlements and give the Palestinians a path to autonomy, with the realization that it will be a bumpy ride, since peace takes power away from the Palestinian (and Israeli - though to a lesser degree) extremists. And yes, there will be violence which must be weathered even after a clear path is agreed upon.
Unfortunately, I don't see that leadership in either country right now. The US can't even find a leader for our own House.
