He governed from the middle, made business his focus, did not put his emphasis on divisive issues. He might have won easily had not Northrum been one of the worst governors in Virginia history. There had to be consequences for that.

In the end it seemed to me that Virginia demonstrated that it is purple, not blue. Youngkin appealed to moderates (in both parties) and that's why he won. That was my read, at least.
