That's another thing ..... test prep


Back in the day (mid/late 70's) I took the SATs twice in spring junior year and fall senior year. No test prep, no private tutoring, etc. That was the norm.

My Hoo kid (CLAS '11) had a friend take the SATs SIX times complete with all sorts of tutoring to try to get into UVA (did not). My kid took the SATs exactly once.

I am all for helping marginalized students (geographically and socially) so long as race isn't the factor. I would even be OK if the kid with slightly (key is slightly) less qualifications from Tazewell beats out a better candidate from Falls Church. That's diversity, not a black and a white Barbie from the same upper class hood. NOTE: I will never get the time back spent watching that horrid movie!
