I bet it’s more affluent, less racially diverse, that makes their lives more than a bit easier, and if they can get better pay and a lower cost of living, who wouldn’t be drawn to that.

Makes me think of something I recently read - we think of ourselves as a nearly 250 yr old democracy, but in a real sense, we’re really only a 50 or so yr old democracy. Not until the late ‘60s/early ‘70s that we really extended the franchise to all citizens. Now, with video evidence of almost anything being available in real time, local policing is really the front line in this experiment.
