Maybe the court should ask a bunch of senators to come before it and explai
explain themselves. I don't understand why the whole co-equal branches of government thing seems so unimportant to so many. The Supreme Court has no obligation to do what Congress wants it to do, to report to Congress on what standards it will implement. That's part of what is means to have three co-equal branches of government.
The article points out the words he actually spoke - "I want to assure people that I am committed to making certain that we as a court adhere to the highest standards of conduct," . . . "We are continuing to look at things we can do to give practical effect to that commitment. And I am confident there are ways to do that that are consistent with our status as an independent branch of government under the Constitution's separation of powers."
Again - "We are continuing to look at things we can do to give practical effect to that commitment."
I guess the working theory is that he is just lying.
