A boomer. I didn’t turn 16 until 1978, by which point the energy had dissipated.
I don’t really disagree with anything you said, but I still think the energy that generated mass rallies, and maybe even woodstock itself, came from deeply passionate opposition to the war. A war every kid hitting the age of 18 had to fear.
Take that away, and I don’t know that you’d have seen all that energy creating the impression that everyone under the age of 25 in 1969 was a progressive. I suspect the non-progressive portion of that demographic is somewhat obscured by history’s emphasis on the massive and very active peace movement.
