Ralph the other day. I chuckled when Marc Iavaroni was talking about being recruited and he didn't know who Va was, he thought they were Va Tech.

I grew up in MD, outside of DC and became a Terrapin fan (I'm cured). By '74 we had just moved to Va and my first real basketball memory was the ACC tournament final against NC State. My favorite teams were the Albert King - Buck Williams years. (You guys probably remember Buck!).

Kenny Dennard fouled Buck Williams. I watched that game from a student center on campus and remember it very clearly.

In those years there was nothing better than the ACC Tournament. Now meh. I guess partly growing older, partly the game and the sport changing so much but I don't remember the last basketball game I watched, college or pro.

As an aside, I actually played against Steve Castellan (and Bobby, or maybe Ricky Stokes in a different league) in the mid 80s in a league in Newport News. We were very respectable. The memory from that game that sticks out is thinking I had him blocked out perfectly when a shot went up. I launched myself into my full 24" vertical leap to get the rebound but I never got close to the ball. Castellan grabbed it when it was still two feet above my hands. Fun times.
