And sorry Suzie Dumbasarock you don't have to worry about tracking and paying taxes on that $100 you got for selling your couch, again regardless of whether you get paid by Venmo or not.

But in the end, this is still nothing but a way to generate alternative 1099's, and/or check that those that should've been generated indeed are, so the Feds can grab their share of that (which is not in and of itself a bad thing, I'm not defending paying folks under the table) - the money grab. And increase the workload at the IRS to monitor it (to justify the job bloat there, they're already calling for) - the Govco bloat grab. And as an added bonus not previously mentioned, passing the cost and burden of that onto Venmo which, while it won't "destroy" them, will force them to add or increase fees, and/or reduce costs elsewhere ("destroy" jobs).

And yes, Venmo is disproportionately used by the poor and working class, so they will disproportionately be affected. But again, Dems have never had an issue with regressive taxation. All taxation is a good thing for them.
