Good, if they broke laws. But it misses the point.
The klan was there to promote a philosophy of hate and bigotry. That is their entire reason to exist. The Oval Office does not call any of them or people marching alongside them "good people". That doesn't mean everyone there is irredeemably evil. But in their role as marcher on that day, it is incumbent upon the POTUS not to characterize them as good. When you fail to do that as POTUS, you bring cheers from the white supremacists and help empower them.
Nobody says everyone on the other side was "good". And the law should treat lawbreakers on their actions, and nothing more. Fundamentally, the people on that side stood against Klan philosophy. It's the absence of a clear recognition of that distinction that brings fire down on Trump. Deservedly so. [Post edited by hoolstoptheheels at 05/16/2019 7:14PM]
