Relatively stagnant? I'm surprised it hasn't gone down if you're going to
compare apples to oranges. Since women make up the majority of teachers, which are Govco workers and have in essence seen their salaries go down in inflation adjusted dollars since '08 due to salary freezes, rising contributions for healthcare, retirement, etc. when comparing that to private sector jobs. But that would apply to the male teachers as well. And that still doesn't give us evidence of this pay inequity for the same job, no matter how much of our lives we hear it.
Jennifer may have a valid complaint, although at the time I'm not sure she was an equal draw to Bradley Cooper. And her beef is likely with her agent if this inequitable pay had no valid justification. I'm guessing Julia Roberts got paid more than Dennis Quaid for their respective roles in "Something to Talk About" given where they were in their careers in terms of drawing audiences at the time. Is that evidence of male pay inequity? But I will give you that the entertainment industry is probably as close to a fair example as you can get for actual pay inequality. But that's probably due less to sexism as it is with how many roles are available per actor within each gender. I would guess the opposite is true for Country Music Singers for example.
