If poverty is the cause, that helps highlight an affordable access problem
If your premise is true, and there are more poor people, therefore the death rate during childbirth is higher, that is still a problem. Poor people shouldn't be subjected to higher rates of death while giving birth. I'm sure it's more complex than just one thing, but I would assume access to affordable quality care is one of the factors that would drive it up if poverty is a/the reason for the increase.
