what you post, but also appreciate that you take the time to post insightful supported posts free from the BS and spin. And I'm not necessarily disagreeing with the point I think you're trying to make here. But step back for a second and think about what you said. Do you really equate this to someone that is convinced they are and wants to become a cat? You do see that there is a difference between going through society as a different gender vs. something that wants to bring me dead moles and other critters from my yard, right? But as an aside, if someone really wants to go through life with fur and whiskers, as long as it doesn't impact me or my rights, why should I really care, unless they want Govco dollars for their spay/neuter job.

So I guess I don't view them as "freaks" or wanting to not fit into society. To the contrary, they want to do something that makes it easier for them to fit into society. I understand the genetic distinction, but it is what it is. Like I said, we don't try to "fix" gays anymore either, nor would anyone suggest we try to "fix" someone with down syndrome (another genetic abnormality). It's not like this is a new thing or a trend/gaming the system like emotional support animals. These are the same people that for years, I would assume, simply thought their only option was to live as a very masculine lesbian or very feminine homosexual male with or without the cross dressing. Well, now they are considering a different alternative when they have that mind to body mismatch, but an alternative that comes with serious and irreversible changes, so I don't think it's unreasonable for them to be evaluated by a professional before doing so in order to distinguish between a true transgender and someone that has a weird "feeling" about themselves.

In a way it's a shame Caitlyn Jenner has become the face of this for so many, because he/she is very much the anomaly. Very few, even less than the general poulation as I understand it, transition to a "gay" gender role like Jenner still wanting to be with females. and not committed (yet) to the full transition. And BTW, as I also understand it, to expect a HS kid to not use the bathroom they identify with unless they have fully completed the project is impractical, because I don't believe they can even do that surgery before turning 18.
