How does it "seem" that I want that?

I apologize, "We'll be miserable, just like the Danes," was not intended to be anymore than a one-liner deflating (or attempting to) the post preceding it, by a noted Serious Policy Proponent around here, not. But clearly that one-liner has given rise to a bunch of assumptions about where I stand that aren't true.

What I would actually like isn't any sort of revolutionary change to our economy, just "medicare for all" with a tax increase in what I predict will be a lesser, cumulative amount than the total amount Americans pay for health insurance premiums to private, profit-making insurance carriers. I'd further increase, slightly, the progressivity of the tax bite such that the richest Americans are paying maybe 3-5% more in federal taxes, and I'd maybe increase the max capital gains rate a skosh, and I'd simultaneously reduce the corporate tax but increase the barriers to offshoring to avoid it.

In a million years I wouldn't make a 4 year college education tuition-free, that's nuts; Bernie loses me on that one.

I would however be at least as skeptical about foreign military intervention as Mr. Sanders is (and here lies my main area of disagreement with Senator Clinton who seems to vie with John McCain for leadership in the Never Met A War I Didn't Like Derby), and I would strive to reduce overall defense spending while tailoring our defense to the most likely current threats which are terrorism perpetrated by small cells, insurgent/fanatic led guerrilla warfare in desert, mountain and jungle climates, rather than invasion by massive armies or nuclear attack via aircraft or missile, while maintaining interdiction capabilities against those things with as they exist now and as they are likely to exist nine the coming generations. "Lean, Muscular, Smart, Smaller" would be my directive.

Environmentally, I can not believe taxpayers are universally paying a few pennies apiece more in taxes so that rich "Green" fuckers can get a $7500 credit against their taxes for their $125K Model X or their $95K Model S, I mean I seriously cannot BELIEVE that. For a car which runs on electricity, nearly 40% of which in this country comes from coal. (I further believe that a more effective means of cleaning up the atmosphere and one perhaps even worthy of subsidy from the federal government might be switching those coal burning power plants to, ta-da, another hydrocarbon: natural gas, plentiful, cheap, and while still generating CO2 and still non-renewable, it's a pragmatic solution to interim CO2 reductions while we await the technological breakthroughs necessary to make solar and wind power and storage solutions for these economically competitive. Which they aren't, Teslas PowerWall for example being for all intents and purposes a joke.)

So though I jokingly refer to myself as a Trotskyite and support Sanders over Clinton I am not, other than in the prevailing right-center atmosphere of this board, remotely as radical as you seem to perceive me.
