Agreed.

I believe that the Plutocrats in the party may not necessarily be all in on the Social Conservatism, but they are absolutely milking the moral connection between God, Country, and Free Market Capitalism. Which isn't to say it's made up. There certainly IS a real tie in between the good old American way and relatively laissez faire notions of government intervention in the economy.

But.

The hoi poli aren't buying it any more. Or, at least they're of the opinion that a bought and paid for Washington isn't really a free market. So the establishment is taking it in the shorts.
