That’s all that happened - that improvement at the border, which dems accepted as the price of critical foreign aid, was killed. By republicans. Who then turned around and passed exactly what they said they wouldn’t without border improvement. That demand caused about 4 mths of dithering in the senate from the point when Biden submitted his request. They demanded border measures, got it, then rejected it themselves, and passed Biden’s request after that manufactured delay.

The house then sat on it and spent all their time rationalizing rejection of the senate border compromise they had demanded. They continued that for another 4 mths, and then passed what the senate had without any border measures.

The point was never border measures for republicans. It was bowing to the ardently pro-Putin wing of the party led by MTG. It was obstruction of a measure enjoying overwhelming popular AND House support. All the performance artists had to do was let democracy work. They didn’t until Putin had reversed the tide of the war.

Clearly, that was the point. The border deal demands were exposed as a farce. Just part of the performance art.
