The article and apparent lawsuit does not suggest it is discriminatory to run a criminal background check on prospective employees. It is being alleged that Sheetz has been discriminating in the way it has been using such checks --- screening out minority applicants who fail such a check at nearly twice the rate compared to white applicants who also fail the same check. The problem isnt doing a background check --- it's how Sheetz may be racially discriminating in its overall screening or hiring and how they may be using these checks in the process. It would seem a complicated case to prove so who knows. Maybe if you read some of these articles a little more carefully, you wouldn't feel quite as outraged or the need to post with every possible grievance.
