Not a time suck useless DEI course, that's for sure. Maybe his/her boss.
Preferably by example. HR can be helpful for benefits issues, pay issues, legal/HR type issues (i.e. FMLA leave), but are absolutely useless and counterproductive on stuff like this imo.
The diversity training courses we had to take were laughably bad. In an attempt to not offend anyone with the training course, they use cartoonish, over the top examples of harassment that EVERYONE knows is wrong. I think they miss an opportunity to actually show some very subtle scenarios where a particular group might feel marginalized and could result in a learning experience. Normally I'd say this could just be how my company did it, but we didn't develop our own content and used something provided by a company that is in this business so I assume it's like that everywhere. The training sessions I've taken at my last two companies could not be more useless and ridiculous
