But if the Founding Fathers were able to come back to earth... They would look at what 2A is being used to defend today and say "this is absolutely not what we had in mind". Clearly it is impossible to know, but I feel pretty confident in that belief. The provision (which actually doesn't say much) has been twisted into a pretzel many, many times over now. It's ridiculous. But it works for those who oppose common-sense policy.

One thing I will say, though. I used to hate slippery slope arguments, which is what the gun nuts have been putting out there for years now. I figured we were grown up enough to preserve American liberties, but try and prevent needless abuse. But what I'm seeing with reproductive rights has me questioning that belief now. We seem incapable of meeting in the middle (and it should be so goddamn easy to get started).
