Tried different ways to frame bans, and they have a 100% failure rate. It’s insane to assume any federal ban at all would work differently. If deep red Kansas wants to ensure right to an abortion in the state constitution, they will certainly not change their minds on a federal ban overriding that voter choice.

Roe was bad law, because the federal govt is not empowered to override states on the issue. That’s always been the conservative creed, not the dems’/liberals’, and look to Burgum for the right approach. He signed a 6 week ban. He also pulled a copy of the constitution out of his shirt pocket and pointed out that it does not authorize federal overrides of states on abortion law. That’s the repub message that would keep voter objections to conservatives at bay on abortion.

Haley tried something similar, but her view was about practicality - stop pushing it because you’re not getting a filibuster proof majority in the senate. Her problem, though, is if the repubs win both chambers and kill the filibuster, nobody knows what Haley would sign.

You’re dead wrong imo. I hope the repubs follow your advice though, because I think it would be close to politically suicidal. And I’d like to see Trumpistan self-destruct.
