What we have is a compromise bill that had the rwnjs screaming that it
Codifies full open border policy! And far lefties (on this issue) complaining about xenophobia.
In other words, it strikes the exact right balance on one of our most intractable issues, and would sail through with bipartisan majorities excluding the far left and far right, in an environment rationally accepting how things get done in this country. Especially things so controversial, nothing’s been done in decades.
TDS aside, majorities of repubs and dems would vote for it. Not in spite of perceived imperfections, because of them. That’s the only way a solution for something like this could possibly emerge. Some dems wouldn’t vote for it, but they wouldn’t prevent a vote. TDS is doing that. It’s all on the repubs.
