…as we are seeing today, the process is the punishment. Even if Trump shoots the moon on all these bullshit prosecutions, he will have spent millions doing so, and, worse, countless hours of his time and had his reputation irreparably besmirched. Further, the mere THREAT of future prosecution would inhibit any future president’s actions, which we don’t want.

So, I think the best take on this question is to align it with what I understand to be previous case precedent regarding civil cases involving the president: Immunity to the “outer limit” of his role as president.

I’ll admit — it’s not a simple call. There’s a good case to be made for prosecuting Biden on any number of issues, for example (immigration, COVID, lawfare/abuse of power), but I think I still lean toward my original answer.
