Speaking of Ukraine, Russia’s performance there suggests going rwnj is a much better way to create an overestimated military which is clearly falling apart based on actual battlefield performance.

One thing I think is overstated - Putin rebuilding the Soviet Union into nato countries - very little chance he’d risk that after getting his head handed to him by tiny, independent Ukraine. If it weren’t for his committed allies in our country and in the EU, holding up funding for Ukraine to give Putin breathing room, his prospects would be hopeless, and Xi would be thinking long and hard about taking on similar risks.
