You act as though a 39 week law would suddenly result in a 10 mile line

Of women about to break water, desperate for an abortion in the nick of time!

I already told you where I’d come down - viability, the point where the fetus can survive outside the womb, which is generally 24 to 26 weeks. Of course, elective abortions even then are…almost non-existent. Whatever limits you put on it, women will reliably want their pregnancies to succeed.

I think your hypothetical is nonsense. Paxton can do what he’s doing, because he has a law on the books with punishment provisions. A psycho AG in NY or VA wouldn’t get beyond pounding sand, because there are no provisions on the books for punishing docs or their hospitals. Honestly, that should be pretty clear from the decades of Roe - lots and lots of AGs wanted to do anything in their power to stop all abortions, and even with trigger laws in the event Roe was overturned, there’s not one single example in a half century of some psycho dragging women, docs, and hospitals into court. Paxton can do this because he’s got a law which allows him to criminally punish expectant moms, docs, and hospitals, and the lack of respect for the rule of law to think he gets to override courts. If the law weren’t on the books, he’d have nothing but his dick in his hands.

Your hypothetical is a nonexistent risk. AGs thumbing their noses at medical exemptions and ignoring courts - that’s a confirmed risk. Look who our speaker is - this shit is standard repub operating procedure.
