I think the world is grappling with the downsides of making China the
Factory floor to the world for decades. Pure good ol’ fashioned manufacturing know-how has atrophied in this country. I think this was a pretty good documentary on that history. So, we need to be less reliant on China for all kinds of things, not just alternative energy products and resources.
Our own environmental movement needs to be a bit more flexible about the give and take of domesticating mining, and allowing for nuclear, and we need to diversify to other international sources, while reinvigorating our own industrial base, like the Chips Act is designed to do.
