We went through it with my late wife's aunt and later her father.
Aunt Annie got super sweet and cheery as her mind went.
Grandpa, on the other hand, was easily agitated. He was a dairy farmer, and his muscular tone in his upper 80's after a career of very physical labor was a freak of nature. I remember caring for him one evening at his place--we took turns--and he became convinced there was someone in his basement pleading for help. The problem was, the home they moved into (Dawdy house on the farm) didn't have a basement. He got extremely agitated, almost violent, when I wouldn't take him to a non-existent basement. Shortly after, he moved into his son's home for care. Soon after, he kinda wilted away and became more complacent.
The ordeal is horrible up close.
