...the wealthiest are the ones paying the taxes, as well as the lobbying fees and campaign contributions. That's why the "tax cuts for the rich" barb never flies. You can't give tax cuts to poor people.
Otherwise, I agree with the rest of your post, although I'd point out that you can't blame people or companies for trying to influence tax policy and the legislators who make it when tax policy and the legislators who make it can make or break you. The problem is not the lobbying. The problem is the power that the government has over people.
