I certainly hope they don’t (and it looks like they may hold back) but
I don’t see how you can ignore that razing Gaza City to the ground and basically turning the people who lived there into corpses or refugees in Egypt or elsewhere is currently “on the table.” My sense is some in Israel think that’s the solution.
Cynically, it worked for Putin in Grozny.
What can’t work is keeping 2.5 million people in a walled in prison slum when the birth rate projects 4-5 million people in the next decade. Something is going to have to give, and I don’t think Israeli citizenship or more land is on the table either.
That’s kinda, IMHO, how we got here.
But Hamas wants a war, and the Israeli far right seems to want one too. Surprisingly, Netanyahu has exercised some level of restraint so far . [Post edited by WahooRQ at 10/25/2023 11:56AM]
