That last post was directed at trends in the Republican Party generally -

The current Republican Party’s avatar called global warming a Chinese hoax and withdrew the world’s supposed leader in freedom and economics (us) from a world climate accord, that maybe what, only North Korea and Nicaragua weren’t a part of? Great company. R voters were ecstatic. With the vast majority of scientists not to mention that bastion of American liberalism the US military agreeing that climate change poses enormous risks to humanity and the planet, it seems like an extreme stance. Excuse me.

You can’t seriously argue that Republican politicians and voters, on the whole, are interested in any meaningful gun control. Thoughts and prayers, mental health, more guards, more prisons, more *guns* is the party refrain. The are scared to death of the NRA and it’s lobbying mobilization. Actually, thats the operative phrase in general with that issue: scared to death. People need so many guns because they are scared to do the real job themselves. They’re cowards. It’s easier to pull a trigger and let a machine do the talking than doing the job yourself. In any event, more than 60% of Americans say that we do not do enough to address this issue. If you’re a parent with a child in a public school like I have, that’s closer to 100%.

The US Supreme Court overturned a 50 year old precedent, in doing so cited a 400 year old jurist who claimed that husbands can’t rape their wives and who literally sentenced women to death for witchcraft. The last three appointments that finally made that possible were done by the person you name, handpicked not for their judicial aptitude, rather by a society hell bent on seeing its own political views forced on the rest of the nation. A large majority of the American public supports access to abortion and has for some time. This issue is an election gift wrap for the Democratic Party.

The Republican Party supports the appointment of judges and the election of politicians who have no problem doing what they can to ensure that someone’s personal bigoted religious views can be used for discriminatory purposes. Discrimination in any form has been a long and difficult battle in America and allowing people to discriminate in bigoted ways is not in keeping with the steady march of progress that minority groups (whether race, sexual orientation, etc.) have achieved just to be accepted by the rest of society and have their voices heard. You cannot seriously argue that the Republican Party (again, as a whole) does not want to turn back the clock.

Again, you are seriously trying to argue the party’s general stance as to regulations? In keeping with the unserious, grandpa didn’t take his meds level of genius he was known for, the person you are asking about declared that for every one regulation, two should he eliminated. You shouldnt have to have a law degree to understand that’s ideology-driven nonsense.

This could go on and on and on. I highly doubt you’re interested in a real conversation and I’m sure this was probably just bait from you to start badgering whatever I ended up replying with. Whatever. Read it, or don’t. Understand, or don’t. Argue, or don’t. Hopefully, one days your eyes will finally open and see.
