It feels like the houses of cards are beginning to fold, at least to a degree. I think instinctively, regardless of our political beliefs, we knew things would come to a head.

Alex Jones and Fox News are now on the hook for hundreds of millions of dollars (and possibly more on the way). They are now both publicly admitted liars who have admitted to feeding their audience known lies in order to keep eyes on the screen or ears to the radio in order to keep the cash gravy train rolling. In short, they are admitted frauds and that fact will be an albatross around their necks forever.

The highest rated cable news host is out because upper management decided 9-10 figure legal exposures were more serious than keeping an unserious talking head on the air - even if you don’t have an MBA that should be a pretty obvious move.

Trump is under indictment with likely more on the way. Internally, the Republican Party knows he is a massive liability but has no plan for how to extricate themselves from him. They could have easily done so after January 6th, but again they put their own short term political interests above that and failed to do the right thing. That mistake will likely keep on giving. No one left to their right minds wants four more years of 3am Twitter posting shitstorms.

Faced with the prospect of a lengthy federal prison sentence for seditious conspiracy, the head of some deranged militant group of “Proud Boys” now blames Trump for everything. Funny the effect a federal courthouse has on people.

If you were in the Trump orbit and did something you weren’t supposed to, you better pray the Trump camp doesn’t know about it. He only cares about one thing - himself - and will instantly sell out anyone up the river if it gains him an advantage.

Many wish they had a true alternative now, only likely too late, but the only person they’ve “groomed” for it is a nationally weak, petty culture warrior who may be one of the only politicians less personally approachable than Hillary Clinton. I (we all) cringe thinking about what that Republican debate would be like between Cheeto and Grumps. Jerry Springer shows were more substantive and had a better grip on reality than that’s going to have - and that’s assuming the debate doesn’t have to take place from
a cell block.

If you’re anyone but those two, and especially if you are an ethical, moral and decent human being, you stand no chance whatsoever in a Republican primary. Those days are long gone.

It’s going to be an interesting next year and a half in politics.
