What would the cash have accomplished?

That's the question. Are you saying that if they had set bail high enough he might not have been able to pay and thus would've stayed in jail? Or are you saying that if he had paid a nominal small bail fee then he wouldn't have committed the crime? Because the last time we had this discussion I shared research with you that shows otherwise on the second question. If you are hoping to keep him in jail with the bail by setting it higher than he can afford, then just say that. Or better yet, just deny bail and move on.
