and the maximum sentence, I’m guessing life imprisonment (or execution) for a pretty significant number of things. Really, that’s the only way to guarantee that the “bad guy” never does anything again, right?

Bail was given for what looks like nonviolent parole violations. That result happens literally thousands of times a day across our country. Someone in that extensive group is inevitably going to go ape shit and wind up on every right wing site on the internet so you guys can demonstrate the low-hanging political fruit that is supposed “soft on crime” policies.

It’s just like with immigration - as human beings who have the potential to commit crimes just like any other group of human beings, including thousands of true blooded white Americans who I can assure you commit their fair share of crimes on a daily basis (full disclosure: I used to work in the criminal justice system). You guys do the exact same thing with that issue. Find an egregious case to “prove” your pre-determined taking point: immigrants are dangerous.

This board is getting past tiresome with this. Instead of posting every cherry picked story you see in the right wing fever swamp, propose some real, workable solutions or just shut up. And I’ll tell you this - good luck with your likely answer that defendants shouldn’t get bail and everyone should be locked up to the max. Our country already locks up 1/4 of the entire world’s prison population - which includes plenty of people in soft on crime lib states. And that’s WITH most people still getting bail, suspended sentences, work release, etc. If the answer of the right is lock everyone up and everyone gets the max - and more - (the lowest hanging fruit answer, in other words), be prepared to build A TON more prisons and deal with the other profound impacts on society that’s going to cause.
