Clearly retaliation and petty on the part of the admin. However, the will
willingness by Brennan to go public, and engage politically, would make me hesitant to pass classified information to him. It's perfectly within Brennan's rights as a citizen to call out abuses (and I think many of his criticisms are valid - though he has an affinity for harsh invective), but if someone's outbursts would be a problem while working in a sensitive gov position, they're a problem after leaving, with respect to security clearances.
