I see a lot of deductions of business expenses and


tax advantages for small investors (passive vs. active income, small producers tax exemption, AMT).

I don't consider the deduction of drilling costs to be a subsidy (any more so than deducting any other business expense is a subsidy)

Other than the huge cost to protect the free flow of oil in the middle east (which is admittedly a huge one as Shen points out, but is not what most people are thinking of when they think of subsidies to big oil), there are not a lot of subsidies or tax advantages for oil companies that I'm aware of.
