various peoples in the Mid East and Africa for all the unrest there now - everyone knows that it was the history of colonialism, the random borders drawn as a result, and all the oppression of local peoples over the years that landed them in their current predicaments. And they think they've seen a euro crisis. Russia's running up quite a bill in Syria right now. I hear certain aggrieved feeling Crimeans are drafting up an invoice of their own.

People suck. That's the unfortunate truth. The strong always screw over the weak, taking what they can, more than willing to leave ruin in their wake.

Horrible wrongs continue in Africa to this day. Sometimes its about ethnicity, sometimes its about power and greed, but sheesh - slavery continues there now. Don't even get me stared on South Africa. So much for any progress there - we gotta break the bank punishing them, although maybe they can just collect from Holland, whose people really screwed them up to begin with.

Bottom line, things like this are absurd, backward looking, and serve no purpose that I can imagine other than gaining minor headlines for the jackasses who propose them. The people who were wronged will not be the people who are compensated. And far from fostering some spirit of change - maybe getting people to suck a little less - it will harden an "us against them" spirit and probably get people to suck even more.

This is just a story about the deep, deep flaws in human nature - no where more apparent than in this dumb-ass-ivory-tower committee.
