Don't know why I post that, other than that it was another large body count and was fresh in my mind from seeing it repeatedly on the highway signage on my drive back from Alabama this weekend.

I suppose 500, for one city, is pretty damned high, particularly since auto deaths, I thought, were the #1 cause of untimely death in the nation, and by a good margin.

I also recall thinking when I saw the number: "Crap, I wonder what the national number is to this point?" Followed closely by: "Crap, I suppose that's pretty good ammo for the 'Self Driving cars are inevitable and necessary' crowd."

At any rate, that's a lot of stiffs (for both numbers). Not sure I can say what it means in Chi-Town's case other than that "societal acrimony" is clearly on the rise.
