As for Hillary she was a leader on the Dem side of the aisle and (again, according to colleagues not my direct involvement) one who was instrumental in working things out both on the Dem side and with the GOP.

From what I gather much of the work in the Senate isn't about having an Act with your name on it but building coalitions and working within the party and across the aisle. That is what I'm told Hillary did better than anyone in the senate by a former senator.

As for things she accomplished or notable positions,

She did a ton for NYC after 9-11 and for veterans of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

She was instrumental in the DREAM Act, even though it got killed.

The State Children's Health Insurance Program was also her creation if I'm not mistaken and she was instrumental in a number of bills on family planning and education.

Thought she did a great job as SOS especially working for a WH that was more than a little weak and naïve on foreign policy and didn't always see eye-to-eye with her. I know Repubs don't hear past Benghazi and emails, but she rebuilt many of our damaged alliances and is well-respected globally and the Repubs on the Hill were glad to have her in office when she was there. She also was part of the decision to get Bin Laden and was the first SOS to stress womens and gay rights worldwide. I'd say she did great work.
