Yeah, I do think that she may have missed an oppty long ago..
to at least mute this issue with a mea culpa. I doubt it would ever go away, because it is Hillary, but in keeping with her stellar campaign skills, she actually managed to make it worse. I remember early in her campaign when she tried to make light of it by lampooning her own lack of tech savvy, which certainly did herself no favors with the younger, more tech savvy voters who have rallied around her dem rival.
I actually am somewhat sympathetic to her. She is not the only 50+ year old who failed to rapidly grasp the full scope of cyber security concerns. Up until very recently - like maybe the last 5 years or so - a lot of older folks considered things like rotating, complex passwords, or multiple email accounts, to be an unnecessary hassle. Cyber risk can be harder to appreciate for those who grew up prior to the digital age - can't touch, smell, and feel it like you can a fire, or a hostage situation. So I have seen many an older folk, probably including me, poo-pooing the hassles to minimize these risks over years.
But in her case, two things minimize my sympathy - she volunteers to place a higher standard on herself when she is Secy of State or running for POTUS, and this whole thing has been part of a larger pattern of questionable honesty and frankly, just plain competence in managing PR issues like this.
