Sure, but WV is about as unrepresentative of America at large as a state


can be. The state is 94% white, close to 0% Latino, and (unless you consider Charleston and Huntington to be metro areas) basically all rural.

Most of America (especially the Democratic base) looks MUCH different, and there is literally no chance of Hillary winning WVA regardless (nor was there any chance they would vote for Obama).

I don't think anyone is surprised that Sanders and Trump did well there.
