To answer a couple of questions, yes, I would have a problem
with a couple making $200K having their taxes reduced (most likely at the expense of my taxes going up) in order to subsidize a nanny. That being said, I don't think Hillary would be dumb enough to structure a program that allowed that to happen.
As far as whether many poor people would be paying $10K for childcare? Well, if they're only on the hook for 10% of their income, why wouldn't they going forward. Similar to college tuition and healthcare, if you shield the consumer of a service from the cost of a service the consumer no longer cares what it costs and the overall costs go way up.
I'm ok in principle with the idea of helping poor people become productive, working members of society. But it needs to be well thought out. Subsidies for college tuition and caps on repayment of college debt were NOT well thought out and have led to an unsustainable escalation in tuition costs. I worry the same could happen with daycare costs.
