by claiming a religious exemption to that law. My point is that religious beliefs should not be an allowable "excuse"/reason/right to not obey a law that everyone else has to obey.

IMO "religious liberty law" is a misnomer if not an actual oxymoron.

Everyone already has the freed to practice a religion of his or her choice. That should not convey an additional right to ignore laws.

What if my religion teaches that if someone owes me money and will not pay, I have the right to cut off their hands? Can I go cut off their hands?
